Policy on
Birthday Parties & Groups
Kidcity does not offer any birthday party or group visit options and does not allow celebrations in our snack areas.
We apologize that Kidcity is not able to accommodate these visits! Although we did host parties and groups prior to 2018, we changed our policy to make a better experience for our primary visitors.
Why don’t we provide CHOICES for birthday parties or group visits?
Kidcity is designed for small family-style groupings to enjoy the museum, and we’ve learned the hard way that birthday parties and groups don’t work well here. This is because even though Kidcity is a big building, the individual play spaces are small. When a larger cluster of people is moving through the museum together, it has a negative impact on other visitors. It doesn’t result in a good shared experience for the “group” either.
Please note that we don’t allow cake/cupcake celebrations in our indoor or outdoor snack areas, out of respect for other visitors who use these areas.
For these reasons, we ask that visitors DO NOT purchase multiple slots and plan to meet up for a party-style gathering or unscheduled group visit at Kidcity.
WHAT ARE OTHER OPTIONS FOR PARTIES AND GROUPS?
We would like to suggest that other children’s museums in Connecticut DO offer party and group options. We are not affiliated with the other children’s museums, but we are friends! We hope you may find one of them to be a wonderful place for your celebration or group visit:
• Manchester, Lutz Children’s Museum.
• Norwalk, Stepping Stones Museum for Children.
• Newtown, EverWonder Children’s Museum.
• Niantic, Niantic Children’s Museum.
• Torrington, KidsPlay Children’s Museum.
• West Hartford, the Children’s Museum.
Finally, there may be restaurant or other options in Downtown Middletown that you’d like to consider for your gathering, and there’s a list of businesses at DowntownMiddletown.com.
